Reasons Why You Might Get Recurring UTIs

girls

If you're a woman, you're probably no stranger to urinary tract infections (UTIs). In fact, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, UTIs are the second most
common type of infection in the body, and women are more prone to them than men.

There are a number of reasons why you might be more susceptible to UTIs. Here are a some:

1. You use a diaphragm or spermicide for birth control.
These methods of contraception can irritate the urethra and make it more susceptible to infection.

2. You have a history of UTIs.
If you've had a UTI in the past, you're more likely to get one again. This is because the bacteria that cause UTIs can linger in the body and re-infect you.

3. You have a urinary tract abnormality.
Certain anatomical abnormalities, such as a narrow urethra or a blockage in the urinary tract, can make it easier for bacteria to enter the urinary tract and cause an infection.

4. You have diabetes.
Diabetes can cause changes in the urinary tract that make it more susceptible to infection.

5. You are pregnant.
Pregnancy can cause changes in the urinary tract that make it more susceptible to infection.

6. You have a weakened immune system.
If you have a condition that weakens your immune system, you're more likely to get a UTI.

7. You use a catheter.
A catheter is a tube that is inserted into the bladder to drain urine. If the catheter is not properly cleaned, it can introduce bacteria into the bladder and cause an infection.

8. You have kidney stones.
Kidney stones can block the flow of urine and cause an infection.

9. You take certain medications.
Certain medications, such as antibiotics, can kill the good bacteria in the urinary tract, making it more susceptible to infection.

10. You don’t sit down but rather squat in public toilets!
I totally understand but that doesn’t allow you to completely empty your bladder and can cause bacterial growth in the urine left in your bladder.

11. You need to work on your gut flora.
Imbalances in bacteria and frequent use of antibiotics can harm your gut and make you even more prone to infections.

12. You wear synthetic underwear which can trap moist and create and ideal environment for bacteria.
Also G-Strings are not a good choice if you tend to get UTIs often because bacteria (lol I don’t know how to write this properly) from the back can easier travel to your vagina and influence the vaginal flora.

13. You don't use the bathroom before and after being intimate with your partner.
While being intimate with your partner bacteria can get introduced into your uterus and can travel up to your bladder. Therefore it's important to pee after sex in order to flush out all possible bacteria. Also having a new partner and to bacteria floras clashing together can cause infections until your body gets used to the new intruders it has to face.
